About the Employer

The Pan Canadian Consortium on Admissions and Transfer (PCCAT) is a national, non-profit organization that facilitates the implementation of policies and practices that support student mobility both within and among Provinces and Territories and granting of transfer credit in order to improve access to postsecondary education in Canada. As a member-based Consortium, it is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives across Canada and aims to support research and knowledge related to student mobility and transfer; develop and disseminate tools and effective practices that support institution/system capacity; and provide useful and relevant information to members/stakeholders.

About the Contract

This newly created contract provides internal and external communications, content creation, and project management support to advance key priorities and actions in PCCAT’s Strategic Plan for learner pathways and mobility. Reporting to the Executive Committee of the PCCAT Board of Directors, the Communications Coordinator plays an essential role in developing and implementing communications across our platforms, increasing membership, creating project workplans, monitoring and reporting progress, and ensuring operational organizational goals are met. This generalist communications, membership, and content creation role will work cross functionally with various PCCAT Board members and other key stakeholders and, depending upon the project, serve as the primary project lead or provide project support. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of communications, marketing, and project management. Experience working with and knowledge of post-secondary stakeholders, committees/boards, and postsecondary education systems is considered an asset.  

Responsibilities

  • Establishes project work plans/charters, monitors and reports on progress and quality of work related to project outcomes, focusing on creating and implementing PCCAT communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mobilizes knowledge by gathering, reviewing, synthesizing, and disseminating relevant research/resources available to support institution/system capacity.
  • Updates and enhances the PCCAT website to provide access to high-quality resources/tools by members and support PCCAT broader communications. Would work with resource/lead on website.
  • Drafts regular PCCAT e-communique (e.g., ListServe, social media, newsletter(s), emails, website contents, conference/meeting invitations) and distributes to PCCAT members, website users, and other system stakeholders.
  • Works with PCCAT Board and Executive to support budget planning, reconcile project activities and costs. Attends and provides written report to PCCAT Board meetings (monthly).
  • Supports annual PCCAT conference coordination, membership maintenance, and other communications, membership, and project-related tasks.  

 

Skills/Experience Required

  • We are looking for a post-secondary student with experience in communications, marketing, and project coordination roles, ideally in broader public sector, post-secondary, or with non-profit organizations. Project management knowledge is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal and written) are required, as well as experience producing web-content or e-newsletter/communiques and stakeholder communications and meeting invitations and facilitation.
  • Familiarity with website updates/management in WordPress would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in post-secondary learner pathways and mobility, including admissions and transfer, would be considered an asset.
  • In addition to required English language communication, French language proficiency would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, prioritization, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills are needed to support success in this role.

 

Work Deliverables

  • Establishment of Communications plans: The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for creating communication plans, monitoring progress, and reporting on the quality of work related to project deliverables, particularly focusing on implementing communication strategies set forth with internal and external stakeholders. (May 2024)
  • Knowledge Mobilization: Gathering, reviewing, synthesizing, and disseminating relevant research/resources in the website member forum to support institution/system capacity and encourage engagement, thereby enhancing the value offering within the membership forum. (May – August 2024)
  • Content Creation: Drafting regular communications such as e-communiques (e.g., Establish/support PCCAT LinkedIn profile, Website member forum, social media posts, newsletters, emails), and website and conference content, ensuring consistent communication to PCCAT members, website users, and other stakeholders. (May – August 2024)
  • Pre- and post-conference campaign for the 2024 ARUCC PCCAT Conference: Developing comprehensive communications plan for pre- and post-conference, creating engaging content and visuals for promotion across multiple platforms, and implementing targeted outreach to encourage registration and post-conference engagement. (May – August 2024)
  • Membership Drive Campaign: Analyzing current membership demographics and identifying growth opportunities, crafting compelling content highlighting the benefits of PCCAT membership and utilizing various channels for outreach including email, social media and newsletters. (June – August)
